Welcome to Pink Neighborhood!
Pink Neighborhood started with a business idea that blossomed into many ideas, which I brought together. For a long time I have wanted to go into business for myself, and have gotten hung up on trying to find one thing to focus on. But I do a few things well, so I decided to go ahead and do those things and present them in one arena - this web site.
I have been painting my own furniture for years, and one day I thought: "Why not sell painted furniture?" So I started painting lots of furniture and posting it on the web.
One day I went to the chiropractor and another patient asked me where I got my sandals.
I explained that they used to be black, but I had been painting in them for 2 weeks. She loved them, so I gave her my card. I went to the upscale thrift store next door and bought 3 pairs of shoes, which I promptly painted. A friend who saw the shoes said, "Katie, your style would be great for hair accessories!" So I painted a bunch of headbands, barrettes, and pony tail holders and my friend bought $60 worth. Every time someone gives me an idea I act on it in some way, and this business keeps growing! I now offer unique painted clothing and accessories, including silk ties, bags and purses of all sorts, and pet supplies.
I have always admired the green company and try to be earth-friendly. I do a lot more recycling since I started my own business. I question every item that might normally go into the trash or recycle bin, and if I think it has a use I keep it or circulate it to someone who will use it. I re-use bags, paper towel tubes, egg cartons, jars, bottles, boxes, hangers, rubber bands, twist ties, tissue paper, newspaper, and all kinds of plastic food packaging. I paint gently used clothing, decorative wood items, seashells, and found items. I use flowers as paint applicators. I work outside as much as I can.
The most important things to me are music, art, spirituality, being good to the earth, doing what you love, and spending all the time you can with those you love. I hope this resonates with you, and you find something you want or need here. Thanks for dropping by.
